Ground Manners – leading, feet & head work, feeding

Round Pen work – What is involved in the round pen sessions?  Body language, paying attention, cycles, coming, following, leading, standing, communication.

Communication – cues vs. force, bits, pre-cues, cues and enforcers, “As little as you need but as much as it takes.”

Training – training the parts to train the whole.

The Gait – what is it?  What is the horse doing under me?

Speed Control- walk, trot, gait, lope, whoa, backup

Exercises – suppling , collection, leads, and more.

The Dance – what is your horse learning?

Perfecting Riding Skills - improving comfort for rider and horse, improving balance, and “unhinging” the horse.    “The more even the beat the smoother the ride” 

Saddle Fit – western or English, blankets/pads, cinches, included headstall and bits,

Q & A Your questions answered and demonstrated.

There will be school room time, group time, and one on one time – during this time other horse and riders will be asked to observe as well as be given exercises to work on.

Our charge per day is $600 plus expenses ex. travel, meals, and lodging.  This is for 6 hours/day of group session time and allowing additional 4hr/day for individual teaching time (as outlined below*).    We will limit the horse/rider combinations to 10 and unlimited spectators.  The host can charge as they see fit, as there will be extra expenses such as facility cost, snacks, speaker system, etc.  You may want to provide a meal or other special things. We recommend that the clinic be a minimum of 2 days and can be expanded to 3 – 4 days.

*If desired additional individual session time is $10/hr. (2 horse/rider combo can share an hour of time @ $5/horse/rider) a schedule of times for individual sessions will be arranged through the weekend.

We have manuals for the weekend and we recommend purchasing and reading the manual prior to the weekend.  We encourage you to find time to read the manual as we believe our time together will be much more profitable and successful for YOU.  Questions from the manual can then be answered on the weekend.  These can be purchased on the website www.horsesense4u.com,  or www.horsesensedk.com as a PDF file or we will mail you a copy.

When we receive registration and 50% deposit from individuals we will send a welcome letter along with a questionnaire with questions about horse and rider to help us with the clinic.

We will send a follow up letter after the weekend. Individuals from weekend will be placed on our mailing list.

2 day clinic might look like this:

1st day

8am registration

8:30 to 9:30 school room – Qavah communication, 4’C’s --Confidence, Consistency, Compassion, and Connection.

9:30 to 11:30 group horse/rider – exercises, suppling , and more.

11:30 to 12:30 – school room – Gaits

12:30-1:30 – lunch – questions and discussion.

1:30 – 2:30 pm – Conformation on each individual horse.

2:30 – 6:30 – individual 1 hr sessions for horse/rider

2^nd day

8:30 to 9:30 am – Saddle fit on each individual horse. (This often takes longer than an hour depending on the interest of the group)

9:30 to 11:30 – group horse/rider – exercises, the more even the beat the smoother the ride.

11:30 to 12:30 – Training the parts to train the whole. –riders only no horses

12:30 to 1:30 – lunch – questions and discussion

1:30 to 2:00 pm – The Dance - riders only no horses

2:00 to 2:30 – questions and answers

2:30 to 6:30 - individual 1 hr sessions for horse/rider

6:30 - Windup
